Homework
- ELA homework will be to read 20 minutes each night. Students should review and study for any upcoming quizzes / tests. Occasionally students will have a project that will require work outside of school.
- Mrs. Amwake and I will both be assigning homework, so it is important that your child copies their homework in their assignment book on a daily basis.
- We will not check to see if they have copied their homework before they leave everyday.
- HW is to be completed in a neat fashion, with legible handwriting. Any HW that is illegible will be rewritten the following night, in addition to that night's homework.
- If your child has a difficult time with something, and they have tried their best, please let us know so we can help them. However, if nothing on the paper has been completed, we will count it as incomplete.
- Please note that sports, dance, and other similar activities are not adequate reasons for late or excused homework.
- We do understand that unforeseen circumstances happen. If a family or emergency situation arises, please contact us to let us know. Thank you.
Absences
Missed work will be placed in a bin in our classroom. Students will be responsible for retrieving their work from the appropriate folder. For every day absent, your child will have the same amount of days to complete their work. Please turn all work in together, unless noted by the teacher. Late work will have 10 points deducted for the first 2 days. WORK THAT IS THREE OR MORE DAYS LATE IS STILL REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETED, AND WILL BE GIVEN A GRADE OF A "50".
If you plan on going on an extended vacation, please let us know so we can discuss what needs to be done. If there is work that can be completed while you are away, we will send it home with your child. However, many assignments require instruction that your student will be missing, and we will catch them up when you return. Thank you!

Food / Snacks / Water Bottles
The District has adopted a Nut Free Classroom Policy. We ask that you please be conscious of this and avoid sending peanut and tree nut products in with your student for snack.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Birthdays - please DO NOT send in special food treats for birthdays. We are following the school nutrition policy and food policies in our classroom.
Students are permitted, and encouraged to bring a daily, healthy snack for their AM class. Our snacks are 'working snacks', so please try to choose items that can be eaten easily while your child is reading, writing, or typing on their Chrome book. Some suggestions are yogurt, fruits, and veggies and dip. Please do not send in candy or nut products. Fruit is available from our school fruit kiosks daily.
Students may keep a small water bottle at their desk.
***Birthday party invitations ~ please do not send in birthday party invitations for your child to distribute unless there is an invitation offered to every child in our class. Although we understand the convenience of doing so, if some students are not included it can lead to hurt feelings and disrupt our classroom community. Thank you in advance for adhering to this policy.
